Challenge wins and placings

Wednesday 31 October 2012

A sweet Tiddlyinks Digital Stamps image made into a simple but clean looking Christmas card. I coloured the image with a mix of Speccies and Promarkers. I used some old stash paper as I wanted that uncluttered look. I designed the sentiment myself and was pleased with the effect.

Challenge entry #54 Bingo

This is my challenge entry for a ds4j I chose line 4 on the bingo card. I suppose technically I may not be considered as I used Nailheads as an embellishment and some may consider them as gems! Apologies if that is the case. I am very partial to this stamp. I work in the craft industry and am surrounded by so many Christmas stamps that this one sticks out as so very different.
I used a Darice embossing folder which gives a random spot effect. A flower cut on my eCraft machine plus a button. A sentiment and ribbon strip from Craftwork Cards and red cardstock. Plus the nailheads.

Skates

I would like to enter Pumpy's 50th Challenge in honour of her and her partners Golden Wedding Anniversary.
At this time of year I am very busy making Christmas cards for the various charities I support and friends and family. I saw this image at DigiStamps4Joy, last week and fell in love with it. It is Christmas without being too in your face.

I wish Pumpy and her husband many more happy years together

Guest Designer Card for DigiStamps4Joy

I was privileged to be asked to make a Guest Designer card after winning a Challenge on my Craft Group DigiStamps4Joy.
The challenge is Anything with a twist, the twist being extra images to win for a male card.
Always one to take things literally, I made a twist card with a male image of my hero Sir Winston Churchill.
To start take a piece of card 12" x 4"" and score  diagonally then score straight down where the points meet.

I used a Core'dinations Black Magic in colours to suit my image. Then choose a co-ordinating double sided pattern paper/card. Make it 3.75" x 11.75" and treat as the core'dinations. When all scored cut along the score lines and these will now fit onto your card. It is a clever fold as you have built in pockets meaning it would be great for adding cash, vouchers or tickets.
You are now ready to decorate as you wish.

Challenge #55 "POP it Up

I would like to submit this card for
Challenge #55 "POP it Up On A Day For Daisies
Just Friday my husband came home with the news that a work colleague's wife will have a lumpectomy on Wednesday. They have only been married a year and are madly in love. I can well imagine how they both feel as my husband and I faced this ordeal nine years ago. Hence I made this card for her and made the butterflies Pop-Up.
I used two ADFD images. I coloured with a variety of Spectrum Noir shades of pink with a little green. The flower centres have a little Stickles in Baby Pink. I used a Darice embossing folder and added pearls for interest.

Brown bird

I am so fond of birds and their images ( and birdcages)! I used a lot of distress ink, a bird and flourish stamp, a lot of ribbon, gems and flowers and feel pleased with the end result!

Parched butterfly

Here is another pretty Parchment card, again from Parchment Craft Magazine. It is always warmly received by my students who originally said at the start of the class "I will never do that!" Thinking it too hard. A little bit of guidance and elbow grease and they go home happy!

Parched heart

One of my many roles at work is to teach Parchment Craft. I adore this technique. It takes a lot of time and patience but the results are worth it! This was from a Parchment Craft Magazine a couple of years ago. I did it in class with two lovely ladies who have become such great friends of mine. June and Chrissie, you know who I mean!!! It is such a delicate result. Sweet flowers and a lot of cut out work along with masses of gridwork.

Holly tree with shoes

Here is a cute card I made with a digi from Ladybug Crafts.Ink. Very girlie!

quilted robin

Ever wondered to do with all that scrap paper you accumulate whilst making your cards??? I did!! Then I came up with the idea of " patchwork quilting" with the paper. You know all those bits normally too small to be of good use. I think it makes a great background for stamped images. Hope you agree. I am entering this for my second challenge entry at Digistamps4Joy, the digi crafting group I am a member of.

Blue haired Joy

Love, love, love this image from my fave Craft Group DigiStamps4Joy
It is so different, not too cute! As it is different I thought I would be and gave her blue hair. I embellished with some new washi tape and as of yet I don't get what all the fuss is about.

Green dress

Here is a sweet McMahon Designs digi that took my fancy. I was looking through my K & Co stash and found some papers I love which inspired the colour theme. I coloured the flowers to match the paper for a better overall effect and I feel pleased with the result.

Fairy Chatter

Fairy chatter: Another of my favourite image designers A Day For Daisies. I used bold colours in my colouring and let the stamp speak for itself. Love it!

The Queen of Hearts

I love this Octopode stamp. My crafting buddies think I am crazy but I can't so cute or pretty all the time! I made the background with a mask to leave the numbers behind. The cake stamp is an old one of unknown origin, sweet though. I am still puzzling over who to send it to!

Birds and trees

A very plain and simple card as this image is over 6" square. I added glossy Accents to the berries to add some gloss and a little colour elsewhere and decided to stop and let the image speak for itself.

feed the birds

How cute as a button is this ADFD image. I used soft, subtle colours just to add a little enhancement and did not over adorn it ,deliberately.

Pink blossoms

A sweet freebie from a favorite of mine Dilly Beans, she has a great way of presenting her artwork. It's just a little bit weird!

Fairy Queen

An Hannah Lynn Designs digi image. I used bold strong colours to enhance this pretty princess. I was sparing with the embellishments as I wanted the image to be the main focus. I adore the work of this artist!

Mega wows

Wow, Wow, Wow..... Update, this card won the Challenge, thank you so much my lovely group! What smashing friends you are and so supportive!
Here is my entry for Challenge #52 at Digistamps4Joy. It is called "You've Been Tagged". I usually prefer simpler cards, but heh, it's Christmas and we can bling up and go over the top. I used this gorgeous ds4j Poinsettia Candles digi image, so evocative of traditional Christmas. I used some old K&Co and Trimcraft christmas paper stash. Some red gems, DO sticky ribbon and brads, along with the christmas tag! The flowers are from a £1 shop, they are the ones you put in vases for Christmas but I strip them down for my cards.I loved making it and wonder who to send it to now..................................
